INSTALLATION

Our Saviour Skylight Protection Products can be easily installed by a competent person. Summary installation notes are provided here with videos & photos, and full instructions for these can be downloaded via the link below along with familiarisation documents for installers and surveyors for all of the Saviour products.

We advise that the installer should familiarise themselves with the type of product to be installed and the particular hazards that may be present on each site. Relevant risk assessments and method statements should be prepared prior to any roof access.

  • The galvanised 3 way elbows and tubes for two sides and legs are already woven into the assembly in most cases dependent on size of the frame being installed.

  • Weave the remaining two plain bars through the net perimeter, connect into the elbows and tighten the allen keys whilst the frame is laid on a flat surface. The edges of the net should now be secured within the frame. If not already installed, insert the four short legs and tighten the allen key fixings.

  • Rubber feet are fitted to protect the roof covering from damage and also to minimise the risk of movement of the Quadtube during the works.

  • Turn over the frame so the allen fixings are on the underside and protected from the weather.

  • Pick up the frame by the net itself or side tubes as if you were holding up a picture frame. Carrying the Quadtube frame in front of you at all times, carefully walk towards the fragile skylight to be protected and lower the Quadtube over the skylight. Position the frame evenly around the kerb and its own weight on legs will retain it in position. Ensure the frame is of sufficient size to cover the skylight and surrounding area without risk of movement during the works. Additional temporary fixings may be required to anchor the unit during use and should be assessed as a site specific requirement.

  • Once installed the Quadtube frame can also assist in careful removal and replacement of a skylight cover, whilst maintaining coverage of the aperture at all times. The roof light cover can be passed between the Quadtube net and kerb upstand and secured as required once works are completed.

  • Any sacrificial test cords should remain visible at the perimeter of the net.

  • If used to protect an ‘in plane’ roof light, once positioned, it can be temporarily secured to the roof to avoid any slippage with suitable stainless straps or wires fastened to existing localised profile roof sheet fixings. Once works are completed, the original fixings are simply replaced.
